  • In order to obtain a license as a psychologist, Dr. Dickson completed 9 years of education, a PhD degree, a dissertation research project, 6 graduate comprehensive exams, 3000 hours of training, a post-doctoral fellowship, and 2 State exams.

Psychotherapy Training & Experience
  • Dr. Dickson received her clinical training at the National Naval Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine where she provided individual therapy, couples counseling, and support groups to active duty and retired military newly diagnosed with chronic medical conditions. She conducted wellness workshops, neuropsychological screenings, and monthly substance abuse training for the department of preventive medicine.
  • Dr. Dickson received additional clinical training at Pomerado Hospital, Department of Geriatric Psychiatry where she provided individual therapy, couples counseling, and group therapy to senior citizens. She conducted neuropsychological screenings for Alzheimer's Disease and Organic Brain Syndrome.
  • Dr. Dickson completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Scripps Health, Partial Hospitalization Program where she provided individual therapy, group therapy, and recreational therapy to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. She also ran a 40-week dialectical behavior therapy workshop for the treatment of borderline personality disorder and eating disorders.
Psychotherapy Practice
  • Dr. Dickson currently contracts as a psychologist with Claremont Behavioral Services to provide First Responder Services for Alameda County Police, Firefighters, and BART Police; Trauma Recovery Counseling and Fitness for Duty Evaluations for AC Transit and BART employees; Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD) for law enforcement; Individual, Couples, and Family Counseling for public sector employees; and Executive Coaching for public sector employees.
  • Dr. Dickson has practiced as a psychologist at Wells Fargo's Corporate Headquarters where she provided psychotherapy and wellness coaching to employees and managers, coached managers on how to respond to critical incidences in the workplace such as employee death, bomb threats, robberies, and employee violence, and designed management trainings on emotional intelligence.
  • Dr. Dickson has practiced as a psychologist at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation where she provided individual and group psychotherapy as well as crisis intervention to incarcerated men and women. She has acted as a clinical supervisor to practicum students, coordinated and managed three mental health programs including Suicide Prevention, Enhanced Outpatient Treatment, and the Department of Mental Health, and worked closely with State officials to ensure program compliance with court mandates.
  • Dr. Dickson has practiced as a psychologist at Oasis Functional Restoration Program where she provided individual and group psychotherapy to clients with chronic pain and medical conditions. Dr. Dickson also conducted psychiatric evaluations and individual therapy for clients on workers compensation. She worked closely with adjusters and insurance companies to ensure needed psychiatric services were provided to clients with work related injuries.
Management Consulting Practice
  • From 2007 - 2009, Dr. Dickson was awarded grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce to develop educational workshops for employers on the benefits of workplace flexibility. Her workplace flexibility forums were attended by hundreds and featured on ABC News View from the Bay, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Business Times, and the Northern California Human Resources Association.
  • As a management consultant, Dr. Dickson has conducted numerous trainings and workshops to hundreds of managers on the prevention of sexual harassment, supervisory skill building, conflict resolution, and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
Professor of Management & Psychology
  • Dr. Dickson worked for 8 years as a Core Adjunct Professor at National University, the second largest private, nonprofit institution of higher education in California. She taught courses on organizational behavior, psychology for managers, conflict resolution, and research design.
